Expert Session on "GeoAI" by Mr. Nikhil D. Baravkar

of Computer Applications organized an insightful Expert Session on "GeoAI" on 28th April 2025 at the MCA Seminar Hall for First Year MCA students.

The session was conducted by Mr. Nikhil D. Baravkar, Sr. Executive - Training & Certification at Passenger Drone Research Pvt. Ltd. (PDRL). With his rich industry experience, Mr. Baravkar provided students with a deep understanding of GeoAI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence) — an emerging field that integrates geospatial data with AI techniques to solve real-world problems in areas like urban planning, disaster management, drone navigation, and more.

Session Highlights:

ASCEND 2K25: A Festival of Technological Advancement

 

The MCA Department of K. K. Wagh Engineering College has organized a two-day national-level technical festival, ASCEND 2K25, on 28th February and 1st March, 2025. The theme of this event was based on the Internet of Things (IoT).

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Nitin Palde, Chief Gue




st and Oracle Cloud Professional at Infosys. He guided students on the importance of developing a career as IT professionals. Dr. K. N. Nandurkar, Director of K. K. Wagh Engineering College, was also present at the inauguration and provided insights into the emerging opportunities in the IT industry. The ASCEND coordinator Dr. V. R. Dhawale, delivered the opening remarks.

Ascend 2K25 featured various competitions, including poster presentations, reverse coding, mind quiz, escape room, tech treasure hunt, and BGMI. The event was coordinated by Prof. Dr. V. R. Dhawale and Prof. Swarna Patil, while Janhavi Lindait and Shahu Rasal played key roles as student representatives.

A total of around 500 students from various institutions actively participated in the festival. Mr. Sameer Balasaheb Wagh, Chairman of K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research, Nashik, and Dr. K. N. Nandurkar, Director, extended their best wishes for the success of the event.

AICTE-ATAL FDP on "AI-Driven Educational Technologies for Enhanced Teaching and Learning"

 

The Department of MCA, K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research, Nashik, successfully organized a One-Week Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "AI-Driven Educational Technologies for Enhanced Teaching and Learning" from 20th January 2025 to 25th January 2025. The program was sponsored by AICTE-ATAL and aimed at equipping faculty members with knowledge of AI-driven tools and methodologies to enhance the teaching-learning experience.

The FDP featured renowned experts from academia and industry, including Prof. Rajendra M. Sonar (IIT Bombay), Dr. Abhishek Patange (ABB Bengaluru), Ms. Sonal Temgire (Mastercard, Pune), Dr. Shilpa Chaudhari (M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology), Mr. Jayant Tripathi (AT&T, Bengaluru), and several other distinguished speakers. They shared valuable insights on AI applications in education, ethical AI policies, adaptive learning, and AI-driven assessments.

Faculty members, research scholars, and industry professionals actively participated, engaging in interactive sessions and discussions on the latest AI advancements in education. The FDP provided a platform for knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and future collaborations. The sessions were conducted online via Zoom, allowing participants to engage in live discussions and explore practical applications of AI in education. The program concluded with a Q&A session and participant feedback, highlighting the impact of AI in transforming modern education.

The FDP was coordinated by Dr. Vandana C. Bagal, with Ms. Archana L. Rane as the co-coordinator. Their dedicated efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event, making it a valuable learning experience for all participants.

Participants who successfully completed the program received the AICTE ATAL FDP Participation Certificate. The Department of MCA extends its gratitude to AICTE, expert speakers, coordinators, and all attendees for making this FDP a grand success.

Expert talk on Cloud Computing

An expert talk was organized by the Department of Computer Applications on "Cloud Computing" for the students of SYMCA on 3rd August 2024, a. Mr. Shailesh Kankrej, the Director of Tega IT Solutions, was invited as the guest speaker for the event. The talk aimed to provide the students with an in-depth understanding of cloud computing, its benefits, and practical applications in the industry. Mr. Kankrej began the session by introducing the concept of cloud computing and its evolution over the years. He highlighted the essential characteristics of cloud computing, such as on-demand self-service, broad network access, resource pooling, rapid elasticity, and measured service.

Mr. Kankrej then discussed the different service models of cloud computing, including Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service.

Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik, successfully conducted a Panel Discussion on "Scope and Career Opportunities after MCA" on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. The event, which commenced at 2:00 PM, was held on the Zoom platform and attracted a large audience of MCA aspirants.
